Preseli Venture Charity Event Heads Up Challenge

In August 2019, Preseli Venture is playing host to the Heads Up Challenge, an exhilarating full day ‘sunrise to sunset’ adventure challenge event to raise money for Place2Be a charity which supports children’s mental health, emotional resilience and well-being. This is part of a broader campaign called Heads Together which aims to generate positive change in the national conversation on mental health.

The adventure endurance event involves 21 head teachers taking part in a kayak along the Pembrokeshire coast, followed by a 50 mile bike ride and rounded off with a 12 mile hike (or run!) along the famous Pembrokeshire coast path, finishing back at the Preseli Venture eco lodge for a well earned evening meal and pint or two of local Pembrokeshire ale from the eco lodge bar! Together, they’re hoping to raise £100,000 and have so far raised over half of this target! You can help them reach their target and follow their progress by heading to the Just Giving page.

The event has been generously supported by sponsors Featherstone Partners and is being been organised by the head master of Elstree school, Sid Inglis who recently visited us with a group of his year 8 pupils for an action packed residential school trip! Like many schools, Elstree has been returning to us year-on-year for an immersive and inspirational adventure program set in a breathtakingly wild and unspoilt natural playground!

The Heads Up Challenge will take place at our outdoor adventure centre which is set in a dramatic wooded valley on the North Coast of Pembrokeshire. The head teachers, along with their families and supporters, will be staying at the eco lodge and geodesic dome which is nestled in a woodland glade on the edge of our new camping field.

The adventures will be led by our team of enthusiastic Preseli Venture guides and instructors who have an unrivaled spirit for adventure! Preseli Venture are delighted to be a part of this charity event raising money for children’s mental health, an area of healthcare often neglected by support services and charities. We are proud to be using our expertise in event planning and adventure hospitality to support a very worthy cause.
